Pioneering Technology's Patented Safe-T-element Cooking System is the Only Technology Available Today that Controls High End Heat on Electric Coil Ranges
WILSON, NC and MISSISSAUGA, ON, July 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ - Pioneering Technology Corp. (TSX-V: PTE) (OTCBB: PTEFF), ("Pioneering"), an energy smart product innovation and consumer goods company, announced today that the City of Wilson North Carolina is the first City in North America to pass an ordinance (legislation) requiring that all electric ranges in tax-supported housing must now include "high end heat limiting technology" meaning that all new or replacement electric coil ranges must be equipped with this technology and all existing ranges must either be replaced or retrofitted with "heat limiting technology" within the next 5 years.
Mayor C. Bruce Rose, of Wilson County, North Carolina signed this city ordinance requiring "high end heat limiting technology" on all electric coil cooking devices in tax supported housing.
U.S. Congressman G.K Butterfield of North Carolina's 1st District recently wrote in support of this initiative, "New cooking technology that has proven to reduce stovetop fires, the number one cause of household fire in our State and in our nation will have long reaching benefits for the health of our citizens, our rank and file firefighters, the environment and importantly our economy as a whole. I would like to see agencies such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Energy recognize and amend their regulations to allow for this technology to be installed in public housing where our citizens are most vulnerable."
Randy Godwin, Deputy Chief of Wilson Fire/Rescue Services and President of the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs said, "We partnered with the local Housing Authority to make this a reality. While cooking fires continue to plague our nation accounting for 40% of all home fires, that number is 53% in Wilson. The adoption of this technology has been embraced in an effort to eliminate such fires".
Pioneering's patented Safe-T-element cooking system is the only technology available today that provides "high end heat control" and a track record of success helping to prevent stove top cooking fires while also saving energy. Available on new ranges or as a retrofit, this technology is installed on over 50,000 ranges in multi-residential public housing. There has never been a cooking fire on a Safe-T-element equipped range.
Pioneering CEO Kevin Callahan said of the ordinance, "Why wouldn't North Carolina be first. The Wright brothers were first in flight in Kitty Hawk in the early 1900's - around the same time the electric coil stove top was invented. Much has changed in aviation since then, while very little has changed in electric coil stovetop cooking technology. We are happy that we can help the City of Wilson deliver on their objective of helping reduce the majority of the fire runs in their community and like years ago provide an example for the country and the rest of the world."
