This round of bedrock sampling includes follow-up inspections to 5 high priority targets outlined by Insight Geophysics Inc. using their proprietary Tuned Gradient Induced Potential (IP) Array and Insight Section analysis. In addition to assessing the highest priority Insight Section IP targets, outcrop inspections will be completed for numerous secondary geophysical target responses identified from the Tuned Gradient IP survey. Geochemical results from this field program will be used to refine drill hole targets. As this property was privately held for nearly 20 years, this will mark the first time a drill program has ever been undertaken on these claims.
Background and Geological Details:
In March 2010, Insight Geophysics Inc. collected 7687m of Tuned Gradient IP data, 1500m of Insight Section IP data and 8900m of total field magnetic data. An initial detailed mapping program of the geophysical grid, infrastructure and some outcrop geology was completed in April. Almost all relevant publicly available geoscience data on and adjacent the project has been compiled into Pro Mineral's geographical information system (GIS).
The Shining Tree Greenstone Belt is roughly equidistant (110km) from the prolific mining centers around Timmins, Kirkland Lake, Cobalt-New Liskeard and Sudbury in northern Ontario, Canada. Numerous occurrences of visible gold in quartz veins have been found in the last century near Shining Tree and several vein systems were developed as the Tyranite and Ronda mines. A major limitation to developing mines in the past has been outlining sufficient resources beyond the at-surface bonanza veins. Today's technologies allow us to better outline prospective exploration targets extending from the at-surface bonanza veins.
Some recent highlights from Pro Minerals exploration program using today's technologies include:
-- Insight Geophysics' proprietary resistivity and chargeability profiles have outlined vertical and gently dipping features that correlate to geological observations of disseminated sulfides in rhyolites with quartz veining, pervasive carbonate alteration and gently dipping gabbro-diorite bodies. Weak alteration and disseminated pyrite with or without elevated gold values at surface are considered by Pro Minerals to be above potentially mineralized structures. -- Compilation has determined the Gold Corona-Churchill shafts, veins and massive sulfides are 130m to 300m east of the project and the Cochrane veins are 400m north of the project. Auriferous quartz veins that occur in the vicinity of the Gold Corona-Churchill shafts are near the formational rhyolite contact with mafic volcanics where exhalative massive sulfides and sill-like mafic intrusions are also present. Pro Minerals considers the north-west striking rhyolite contact appears to have an undulatory shallow to moderate dip which means the favourable stratigraphic zone for hosting auriferous quartz veins can be expected to be close to surface on the Pro Minerals claims. April mapping located at last one location on the project where the base of the rhyolite is adjacent mafic volcanics. -- Compilation accurately positioned a gold in humic soil survey that shows a southwestern extension of the Churchill soil gold anomaly onto the Pro Minerals claims. The highest gold result of that soil survey occurs near Tuned Gradient IP chargeability peaks on the Pro Minerals project. -- There are no drill holes on the Pro Minerals claims and all the IP targets outlined by Insight Geophysics appear to be untested. A primary target area (1200m by 100m) striking northwesterly will receive follow- up prospecting, geological mapping and sampling prior to drilling. The primary target area roughly parallels the formational rhyolite contact related to the auriferous quartz veins at the Cochrane, Gold Corona and Churchill showings.
The Shining Tree Camp is currently experiencing heightened interest, based on recent announcements made by companies exploring in the camp. Creso Exploration Inc. recently announced successful drill results including 65.7 metres of 18.2 g/t Gold and 79.6 metres of 4.61g/t Gold in hole #2 on their MINTO Project, and Platinex Inc. have commenced an aggressive 11,500m drill program to further evaluate and expand the Herrick gold deposit which sits approximately 1200 metres North of Pro Minerals Shining Tree Project.
The company would also like to invite the public to visit our website to view "Pro Minerals Shining Tree video", which has now been posted. The 2 part, 15 minute video, contains portions of the previously mentioned mini documentary which follows the staking rush that occurred in September 1996, when the Shining Tree Camp was re-opened for exploration. The video gives the public a chance to see first-hand just how this historic staking rush (which utilized high school track athletes to get a leg up on the competition) took place, as well as interviews with the individuals involved.
