WINNIPEG, Sept. 24, 2018 /CNW/ - DELTA 9 CANNABIS INC. (TSXV: NINE) (OTCQX:VRNDF) ("Delta 9" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the locations for two cannabis retail stores in the Province of Manitoba.
One of the retail outlets is a cannabis 'superstore' located in the busy St. Vital area in southern Winnipeg. The second is located in the downtown shopping area of Thompson, in northern Manitoba.
The Winnipeg location is a 3,200 square foot outlet located in St. Vital Square at 827 Dakota Street, and is expected to open its doors to the public on October 17, the first day of cannabis legalization in Canada.
Vice-President of Marketing Marshall Posner says the St. Vital outlet is larger than most stores planned for the Delta 9 chain of cannabis outlets, and will include a cannabis education centre on the premises.
"This location in St. Vital is a great site for a retail store like ours," said Posner. "It's a location with a lot of vehicular and foot traffic, and being located in the main shopping area for this neighbourhood it's really a central destination for most of the people who live in that area of town."
The second store in Thompson is also centrally located at the City Centre Mall in the downtown core, adjacent to anchor tenants such as Walmart and Safeway.
"I don't think you could find a better location in Thompson," said Posner. "This really is ground zero for retail in the city." The two outlets will operate under the Delta 9 Lifestyles brand.
Delta 9 Lifestyle stores will stock an industry-leading lineup of products from Delta 9 as well as various partner brands including products from Canopy Growth-owned brands such as Tweed. Delta 9's products will also be available through Canopy Growth locations in the province.
"As partners in this venture, Delta 9 and Canopy Growth are working hard to ensure we have the widest variety and best products available for our customers in Manitoba," said Delta 9 CEO John Arbuthnot.
The announcement of Delta 9's new retail locations follows the signing of Cannabis Store Retailer Agreements with the Government of Manitoba for both the St. Vital and Thompson locations. Those agreements are required by the provincial government before a cannabis retail outlet can be approved.
Delta 9 is currently awaiting approval for two more outlets on properties that have already been secured. One of those potential outlets is located in the vibrant Osborne Village area of Winnipeg, while the other is located in downtown Brandon.
