Mark Begelman joins the Board of Canyon Creek Food Company Ltd.

 EDMONTON, Dec. 19, 2011 /CNW/ - Canyon Creek Food Company Ltd., ("Canyon  Creek") listed on the TSX Venture Exchange Inc. under the trading  symbol "CYF" is pleased to announce that Mark Begelman has joined the  board as Vice Chairman. 

 ABOUT CANYON CREEK 

 Canyon Creek is a food processing company based in Edmonton, Alberta,  providing fresh soups and other prepared food products for today's  health conscious consumer. The Company provides its fresh food product  line to both grocery retailers and a broad range of food service  establishments such as restaurants and institutions throughout Canada. 

 Mark Begelman - Vice Chairman 

 A winner of Ernest and Young's Entrepreneur of the Year multiple times.  In 1986 he recognized an under serviced niche in the office products  industry and became founder and CEO of "Office Club", one of the  product superstore pioneers. Mark built Office Club to $350 million in  sales, 52 stores and took the company public (NASDAQ) in 1989. In 1990  Office Club was designated as "Company of the Year" and Begelman was  awarded Ernest and Young's Entrepreneur of the Year. In 1991 Mr.  Begelman was named "Financial News" CEO of the Year. In 1991 Mark  merged Office Club with Office Depot and took over as President of the  combined companies. Under his direction, sales rose from $900 million  to $5.5 billion and grew to 462 stores in only 4 years. 

 Building on a lifelong interest in music, he then established (in 1995)  a new business know as MARS Music, essentially a superstore for musical  instruments. The business achieved $365 million in sales and earnings  of $6.8 million in EBITDA, by the time he sold it a few years later.  For a second time, Mr. Begelman was named an Ernest and Young's  Entrepreneur of the Year in 2000.
