MONTREAL, May 10, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) announces today, through a Notice of intention filed with the Director of the Program, its participation in the Voluntary Reimbursement Program which was put into force by the Government of Quebec on November 2, 2015.
"As we announced in February 2014 and have publicly repeated on a number of occasions since, SNC-Lavalin underscores its commitment to working with the Government of Quebec and the province's public agencies to reach a settlement that is comprehensive, final and fair," says Neil Bruce, President and CEO. "SNC-Lavalin firmly believes that common ground can be found to allow everyone to confidently move forward."
SNC-Lavalin has significantly toughened its ethics and compliance program since 2012. Its measures include:
"Over the past few years, we have invested significant time and money to strengthen our ethics and compliance program," added Mr. Bruce. "Our clients and partners recognize our concrete actions, our numerous efforts and our very tangible progress since 2012."
In February 2014, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) granted the company the necessary certification to do business with Quebec's public sector organizations.
In December 2015, SNC-Lavalin has signed an administrative agreement with Public Services and Procurement of the Government of Canada under the Government of Canada's new Integrity Regime. The administrative agreement allows companies – that have federal charges pending against them – to continue to contract with or supply the Government of Canada.
The company's ethics and compliance program, which is based on international best practices, is divided into three categories: prevent, detect and respond. The three categories consist of actions to help ensure the company meets its commitment to ethics and compliance.
