Mining Shares Moving Up as Havens Shine

A move toward haven investments is seeing shares of gold and silver miners rising in Tuesday's market.

At 11:07 a.m. ET, silver futures on the Nymex were up 4.21%, while gold futures were up 1.77%.

Shares of Endeavour Silver Corp. (EXK) were trading 16.29% higher on the New York Stock Exchange, with volume topping more than 3.1 million shares. The stock's 65-day average volume is some 2.5 million shares. The company's stock also was rising on the Toronto Stock Exchange, gaining 15.95% to trade at C$4.07, on volume of more than 1 million shares. That's above the 65-day average volume of 491,036.

Other gainers included Alexco Resource Corp. (AXU), up 12.61% on the NYSE American to $2.67 a share; First Majestic Silver Corp. (AG), trading 6.25% higher on the NYSE to $11.55; and Hecla Mining Co. (HL), which is trading 5.06% higher, at $1.87, on the NYSE.

MAG Silver Corp. (MAG) is up 6.43%, trading at $13.57, and Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) is up 5.04% to $19.38.

Kinross Gold Corp. (KGC) is up 5.94% to $5.26 per share on the NYSE, and gained 6.34% in Toronto to trade at C$7.04. Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) gained 3.33% on the NYSE to trade at $7.27 and 4.37% in Toronto to trade at $9.79, and shares of New Gold Inc. (NGD) are up 3.13% on the NYSE American to $1.16 and up 4.36% in Toronto to C$1.56.

Barrick Gold Corp. (GOLD) shares are up 0.98% on the NYSE, trading at $19.55 per share, and have gained 1.32% in Toronto trade to C$26.15 per share.
