Claymore's first ETF celebrates its fifth anniversary as the #2 Ranked
Canadian Equity Fund
TORONTO, March 10 /CNW/ -Today Claymore Investments, Inc. along with its
partner Research Affiliates, LLC celebrate the fifth anniversary of the
Claymore Canadian Fundamental Index ETF (TSX: CRQ), Claymore's very
first exchange-traded fund (ETF) launch and the first ETF in Canada to
utilize a Fundamental Index(®) strategy.
Over the past five years, CRQ has outperformed the benchmark S&P/TSX 60
and the majority of mutual funds in the Canadian equity category. CRQ
is the #2 ranked fund (out of 93 funds with 5 year track records) in
the Canadian Equity fund category to the end of February 2011. CRQ has
also received a Five-Star rating from Morningstar.
"CRQ has quietly become one of the best Canadian equity funds in Canada,
and not only proves that the Fundamental Index strategy can produce
returns superior to the market, but most active managers as well, said
Som Seif, President and CEO of Claymore Investments. "As a firm, we
continue to believe that by coupling disciplined and intelligent
passive strategies with low management fees, we can provide Canadians
with great products for the long term investor through our lineup of
Claymore ETFs. It is this focus and the success of funds such as CRQ
that has made Claymore one of the country's fastest-growing investment
firms."
The Fundamental Index approach is designed to overcome the limitations
of traditional market capitalization indices, which tend to overweight
overvalued stocks and underweight undervalued stocks, resulting in a
drag on performance. Instead, the Research Affiliates Fundamental
Index(®) (RAFI(®)) methodology selects and weights its constituents based on company
fundamental factors: dividends, total sales, free cash flow and book
equity value. The Fundamental Index strategy seeks to measure a
company's economic "footprint," avoiding market fads, speculation, and
constantly shifting expectations.
"In the past five years, the RAFI methodology has delivered on its
promise. The Index methodology has generated superior performance
during a period of market turmoil, in Canada and worldwide" said Rob
Arnott, chairman and CEO of Research Affiliates, LLC. "We are delighted
to continue our relationship with Claymore, which offers leading
products to Canadian investors."
In addition to CRQ, Claymore offers Canadian investors four additional
funds that utilize the RAFI methodology, including the Claymore US
Fundamental Index ETF - C$ Hedged (TSX: CLU) and the Claymore US
Fundamental Index ETF - non-hedged (TSX: CLU.C), the Claymore
International Fundamental Index ETF (TSX: CIE), the Claymore Japan
Fundamental Index ETF - C$ Hedged (TSX: CJP).
