Volkswagen AG said Thursday that it set up a framework to allow investors to tie their investments directly to the company's sustainable projects.
The Green Finance Framework includes financing types like green bonds and green loans, the German car maker said.
Volkswagen aims to connect its corporate objective of carbon neutrality in 2050 with the company's financing strategy and currently offers investors two sustainable projects as part of the framework, electric vehicles based on the modular electric-drive toolkit and charging infrastructure.
A committee will select and assess the projects and will ensure transparent reporting for investors to know how their money is used, Volkswagen said.
