             Appointment of a Managing Director for the UK

Christian Salvesen PLC, the European logistics company, is pleased to
announce the appointment of Mr Brian Gaunt to the new position of
Managing Director UK, with responsibility for managing the Group's UK
logistics businesses.

Brian Gaunt will join Christian Salvesen's Executive Committee
reporting to Group Chief Executive Edward Roderick.

From 2001 until recently Mr Gaunt, 44, was Group Logistics Director of
the BigFood Group plc, the integrated food company. As a member of the
Management Board reporting to the Chief Executive, he was responsible
for the supply chain and distribution across the two key businesses,
Iceland Foods and Booker.

From 1995 to 2001 he was with Asda Wal-Mart, initially as Supply
Director in the UK where he developed the supply chain function. He
then took up the position of European Supply Chain Director where he
was responsible for the strategic development of the supply chain
function in the UK and Germany. He has also held logistics and
commercial positions at B&Q and United Biscuits.
