                        NON-EXECUTIVE BOARD APPOINTMENT

SHL Group plc announced today the appointment of a new non-executive director,
George Battersby, Human Resources Director and a member of the Board of Amersham
plc, a FTSE 100 company.  The appointment takes effect immediately.

David Best, Chairman, commented, "I welcome George Battersby to our Board.  He
brings a wealth of plc experience in human resources both as a customer and user
of our products.  In addition he has a psychology background."

George Battersby has many years experience in human resources at plc level.
Prior to joining Amersham plc in 2000 he was with Laporte plc for four years as
Group Human Resources Director.  From 1985 to 1996 he was Group Human Resources
Director with Fisons plc.

He will serve on both the Remuneration and Audit Committees of SHL.

The Company advises that no details have failed to be disclosed under Paragraph
16.4 of the UKLA Listing Rules.
