The appointment takes effect immediately. David Best, Chairman, commented, "I welcome George Battersby to our Board. He brings a wealth of plc experience in human resources both as a customer and user of our products. In addition he has a psychology background." George Battersby has many years experience in human resources at plc level. Prior to joining Amersham plc in 2000 he was with Laporte plc for four years as Group Human Resources Director.
