The Board of The Peacock Group plc has been notified of the following interest
in its Ordinary 1p shares.



Notification was received on 12th January 2004, that Prudential plc and all of
its subsidiary companies no longer held a notifiable interest in the issued
share capital of the company.



The company was advised that Prudential plc and its subsidiaries retain a c2.92%
interest in the issued share capital of the company.  This represents a
reduction of c209,850 shares from the previous holding of 3,524,000 (being 3.1%)
as at 25th August 2003.
