                                  Board Change

The Peacock Group plc ("Peacocks") announces that John Lovering, Chairman since
1997, will retire as Chairman and from the board when a suitable successor has
been found.

He and the Board feel that his role at Baroness Retail Limited may create a
conflict of interest with the role of Chairman at Peacocks.

John Lovering said "Peacocks will always be special to me. I am very proud of
what has been achieved. Peacocks has an outstanding executive team with real
strength in depth.  I wish Richard Kirk and the rest of the team continuing
success in the future."

Richard Kirk, Chief Executive, said : "John has made an outstanding contribution
to the development of Peacocks.  He joined a business with turnover of under
#100 million and will leave a business with excellent growth prospects from a
sales base approaching #500 million a year.   We understand why, after six
years, he feels it is an appropriate time to move on and wish him well for the
future."
