SAN FRANCISCO, April 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today issued a statement supporting the decision of the California Air Resources Board (ARB) to adopt a new statewide fuel standard that calls for at least a 10 percent reduction in the carbon intensity of California's transportation fuels by 2020. Adoption of this regulation is one of many measures identified by ARB to implement AB 32, the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. "We applaud the Air Resources Board for continuing California's long record of environmental leadership by approving a low carbon fuel standard," said Nancy McFadden, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at PG&E. "As a supporter of alternative fuels, we believe this aggressive action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is an important step in combating climate change." Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation (NYSE: PCG), is one of the largest combined natural gas and electric utilities in the United States. Based in San Francisco, with 20,000 employees, the company delivers some of the nation's cleanest energy to 15 million people in northern and central California.
