Bank One Economist Anthony Chan Provides Insight on Emerging Trends 


MADISON, Wis., May 24  /PRNewswire/ -- The Dane County Small Business Awards
breakfast will offer business insights from the area's most effective small
businesses and from nationally recognized Bank One economist Anthony Chan from
7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 11, at the Sheraton Madison Hotel.

Now in its 22nd year, the event recognizes the foremost small businesses in
Dane County and is likely to draw about 300 business owners and government
officials.  Bank One, Madison Gas & Electric Co., InBusiness Magazine,
University of Wisconsin Small Business Development Center, Wisconsin Business
Development Finance Corp. and MidWest Family Broadcasting will present the
awards.

  The awards event will recognize businesses that:
   -- Have been for-profit companies in business at least three years
   -- Are profitable and successful
   -- Foster an employee-focused workplace
   -- Give back to the community through volunteerism, contributions or in-
      kind services



Keynote speaker Chan will discuss emerging economic trends and take an in-
depth look at the environment for small business.  A monthly guest on CNBC and
CNN and often quoted in national newspapers and financial publications, he
will:

   -- Examine the pace of economic growth
   -- Provide a forecast for inflation and interest rates
   -- Address the impact of the economy and the markets on the upcoming
      presidential election and visa versa



Chan serves as chief economist for Banc One Investment Advisors with primary
responsibilities for briefing fixed-income traders, sales staff, trust officers
and portfolio managers on the current economic condition.
