Bank One Makes $45,000 Financial Literacy Grant to the Tucson Urban League TUCSON, Ariz., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Bank One has made a $45,000 grant to the Tucson Urban League to help consumers learn more about managing their money. Bank One is also providing training to Urban League case managers who will administer the Money Smart financial literacy program in both English and Spanish. "Increasing our clients' knowledge of financial matters will have the lasting effect of helping stabilize their lives and those of their families." Across the country, Bank One isrolling out the Money Smart program, which was created by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. to help adults outside the financial mainstream. The 10-module program includes topics designed to help participants improve their financial health, including: -- Understanding the basics of banking -- Using credit wisely and understanding your credit rating -- Choosing and maintaining a checking account -- Paying yourself first - a savings strategy -- Knowing your rights as a consumer -- Owningyour own home "Helping families break the cycle of economic disadvantage is critical to the health of any community," said Steve Fell, Bank One's Tucson market president and member of the Tucson Urban League board of directors. "This program focuses on increasing economic self-reliance, which is a major focus of Bank One's charitable giving." Bank One has roots in southern Arizona dating back to 1899.
