News Corporation Files Registration Statement For Resale Of Preferred ADSs
Issued To General Motors In Connection With Hughes Acquisition

NEW YORK, NY, December 22, 2003 - The News Corporation Limited ("News
Corporation") today filed a shelf registration statement with the Securities and
Exchange Commission ("SEC") relating to the resale in the United States of
approximately 28.6 million American Depositary Shares representing Preferred
Limited Voting Ordinary Shares (NYSE: NWS.A). These shares were today issued to
General Motors Corporation in connection with News Corporation's acquisition of
a 34% interest in Hughes Electronics Corporation. Copies of the registration

The registration statement relating to these securities has been filed with the
