Markel Announces Debt Offering

RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 17  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Markel Corporation (NYSE:MKL) announced today that it has priced a public offering of $350 million aggregate principal amount of 7.125% senior notes due 2019.  The net proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including acquisitions.  Barclays Capital and Wells Fargo Securities are the Joint Book-Running Managers for the offering, which is expected to close on September 22, 2009.
