Notification of interests of directors

The Company was advised today that on 15 October 2003, the Directors listed
below acquired Ordinary Shares in the Company at a purchase Price of #12.80 per
Ordinary Share.  The below shares were acquired as free issue shares through a
Profit Sharing Employee Share Ownership Scheme, which has been approved by the
Inland Revenue.  The same number of shares were issued to all qualifying
employees and were part of the Group's Centenary package.  Their previous and
current share holdings, including those held by related persons, are as follows:
