RNS Number:6791L Entertainment Rights PLC 29 May 2003 29 May 2003 ENTERTAINMENT RIGHTS PLC CHAIRMAN'S AGM STATEMENT At today's Annual General Meeting of Entertainment Rights PLC all resolutions were passed. The Chairman Rod Bransgrove said: "Current trading within the Group continues in line with our expectations. We are particularly pleased with progress in the development of our wholly owned properties, which are key to the continued growth of the Company. In March, we confirmed new episodes for Basil Brush, Postman Pat and The Little Red Tractor - all with the BBC. Since then we have made further progress in developing consumer products from these important brands. Significantly, the BBC will be using Basil Brush to promote the CBBC channel later in the year and his international roll-out begins in Australia and Ireland in September. This Autumn sees the launch of Basil Brush merchandise with a range of collectable plush toys and exclusive video and DVD offerings. The new Postman Pat television series, currently in production, is beginning to generate a great deal of international interest and we envisage starting the worldwide roll-out of this brand in early 2004. In the UK, Postman Pat toys and exclusive video and DVD offerings will be launched later this year in time for the key Christmas selling period. Last week we announced that the non-doll Barbie licensing agreement with Mattel would not be renewed beyond 31 December 2003. This is not anticipated to have a material impact on the Group. Entertainment Rights continues to have a strong relationship with Mattel as evidenced by the announcement in March that the Group had secured television and video rights to the third successive Barbie(R) movie, BarbieTM of Swan Lake. As with the previous productions these are worldwide rights with the exception only of North America. BarbieTM of Swan Lake is currently scheduled for release in October 2003. Our wholly owned properties are becoming increasingly established with a new generation of children. We continue to ensure that the Group has a balanced portfolio of rights and is not dependent on any one revenue stream or a single character for its profitability, thereby ensuring benefits for shareholders in future years."
