Notice to EFG-Hermes GDR Holders:


Pursuant to EFG-Hermes Holdings' board resolution on October 16th 2003 regarding
the increase of the company's capital from LE 205,370,050 to LE 405,370,050
through a 40 million share rights issue at a par value of LE 5 per share, the
company is announcing that subscription to the 40 million shares shall commence
on Monday November 17th 2003 and is to last 30 days through Thursday December
18th 2003.

GDR holders who wish to subscribe to the rights issue must convert their GDRs to
ordinary shares prior to Sunday November 16th 2003 (record date).

In case subscription of the rights issue is not fully subscribed during that
period, a second notice will be announced which will allow those who have
subscribed to the first round to subscribe to the second round without
limitation to subscription amounts. At the end of the second round allocation
will be pro rated to subscription amounts.
