               Donatantonio plc ("Donatantonio" or "the Company")


                                Strategic Review


The Board of Donatantonio is aware that certain members of the Donatantonio
family are keen to reduce their significant investment in the Company, whilst
ensuring the ongoing success of the Donatantonio business. As a result, the
Board of Donatantonio has resolved to conduct a strategic review of the Company
with a view to maximising value for all shareholders, including the possibility
of a buyer being sought for the Company as a whole. Deloitte & Touche Corporate
Finance has been appointed to assist with this review.

The Board of Donatantonio believes that there are attractive opportunities to
develop the Company's existing business further and intends to seek a partner
with ambitions to pursue these opportunities.

The Company intends to announce its results for the year ended 31 January 2003
during the week commencing 24 March 2003. An update on the strategic review will
be provided as soon as practicable.

Donatantonio was founded by members of the Donatantonio family in 1902 and was
floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1997. In total, members of the
Donatantonio family currently own or are interested in approximately 65% of the
Company's issued share capital.

Donatantonio is a leading UK importer and distributor of food ingredients
traditionally associated with the Mediterranean region, including pasta, tomato
products and olive oil. It supplies the leading UK food manufacturing groups,
wholesale food caterers and UK supermarkets.
