COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho, March 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation (NYSE: CDE; TSX: CDM) announced today that it has received notification that the United States Army Corps of Engineers has reinstated Coeur Alaska's 404 permit authorizing activities related to the construction of the company's tailings disposal facility at the Kensington underground gold mine in Alaska.
"We're confident the Corps of Engineers has done a diligent job in reviewing the permit," said Dennis E. Wheeler, Coeur's Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. "The reinstatement is a validation of the rigorous scientific and engineering analysis that formed the basis of the original permit. The reinstatement is also a validation of the fundamental environmental soundness of Kensington."
Wheeler added, "We will now focus on moving forward with the full-scale construction of the mine," said Wheeler. "We look forward to seeing this project fulfill its promise of generating significant economic value for investors, employees, and the economy of Southeast Alaska.
