("BKN" or "the Company"), a global animation company engaged in the distribution and marketing of animated children's television programmes and related consumer products, announces that it is to expand its London operation with the hiring of one of the best animation teams in the industry headed up by David Freedman. David and his team join BKN from Carlton Television Plc, where as Executive Producer, he was in charge of development of a new 'Thunderbirds' series. As Supervising Producer at BKN, David will pioneer the creation of the new production series, 'Legend of the Dragon', due for release in Autumn 2004. Richard Ungar, recently named Executive Producer of Production from The Marvel Character Group where he was President, said: "We are committed to attracting top talent based in London to ensure that our new properties deliver the most quality for our broadcasters. David will lead a superb creative team. This marks an extremely exciting stage in BKN's United Kingdom development." David Freedman said of his appointment: "BKN creates huge shows that are proven commercial successes. It is a company that is big enough to have power and presence and small enough to act in an entrepreneurial and bold way. It is great to lead such a groundbreaking production as 'Legend of the Dragon' with such a talented team in London." David Freedman is an extremely experienced producer and show runner of animation. He has risen from writer through to show runner and has worked for most of the major broadcasters in the industry including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Disney, Fox, Cartoon Network Europe and many others. David began his career as a cartoonist, and entered the animation industry as a writer, quickly moving on to script editing and development. Due to his art background he began to oversee design and direction as well. David was co-creator and co-executive producer of the multi-award winning, 'Mr Hell Show' which starred the late Bob Monkhouse as the smarmy host, 'Mr Hell' himself.
