Passenger traffic

In October 2010, passenger traffic at Aéroports de Paris (Paris:ADP) (Pink Sheets:AEOPF) increased by 4.7% compared to October 2009. The Paris airports handled a total of 7.4 million passengers, including 5.3 million at Paris-Charles de Gaulle (+3.8%) and 2.1 million at Paris-Orly (+7.2%). The month of October was marked by national strikes across France which impacted traffic at Aéroports de Paris on 12, 19 and 28 October.

  • International traffic (excluding Europe) increased by 5.6%. All destinations recorded an increase. The Middle East grew by 13.2% followed by Africa +6.2%, the French Overseas Departments and Territories +5.7%, Asia-Pacific +4.0%, North America +3.4% and Latin America +1.7%.
  • European traffic (excluding France) grew by 6.0% boosted by the Schengen area which increased by 6.4%. Great Britain and Ireland dropped by 4.1%.
  • Traffic within France increased by 0.4%.
  • The number of connecting passengers decreased by 6.4%, resulting in a connecting rate of 22.8% against 25.8% in October 2009.

From January to the end of October, passenger traffic grew by 0.3% compared to the same period last year. The number of connecting passengers declined by 5.8%, resulting in a connecting rate of 23.1% against 24.6% for the first ten months of 2009.

Aircraft movements

The number of aircraft movements decreased by 1.8% in October 2010 year on year (with -2.9% at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and +1.0% at Paris-Orly). For the first ten months of the year, the number of aircraft movements fell by 4.6%.
