Passenger traffic

In May 2010, passenger traffic at Aéroports de Paris (Paris:ADP) (Pink Sheets:AEOPF) increased by 3.3% compared with May 2009. Paris airports handled a total of 7.5 million passengers divided up between 5.2 million for Paris-Charles de Gaulle (+3.5%) and 2.3 million for Paris-Orly (+3.0%).

  • International traffic (excluding Europe) grew by 5.3%. Except Latin America, all market sectors recorded a growth: Africa: +5.7%, North America: +5.5%, Latin America: -1.7%, the Middle East: +13.8%, Asia-Pacific: +4.4%, and French overseas territories: +0.3%.
  • European traffic (excluding France) grew by 2.3%. Traffic within the Schengen area increased by 2.8%. Great Britain and Ireland markets dropped by 8.5% affected by British Airways strikes and the impact of the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud at the beginning of the month.
  • Traffic within metropolitan France was 1.9% up.
  • The number of connecting passengers decreased by 4.3%, resulting in a connecting rate of 22.1% (against 23.5% in May 2009).

For the first five months of the year, passenger traffic decreased by 3.1% compared to the same period of 2009. The number of connecting passengers declined by 6.6% resulting in a connecting rate of 23.8% (against 24.6% for the first five months of 2009).

Aircraft movements

The number of aircraft movements dropped by 2.8% in May 2010 year on year (with -4.7% at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and +1.6% at Paris-Orly). For the first five months of the year, the number of aircraft movements fell by 8.0%.
