NEW YORK, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Severe storms tore through much of Verizon's Mid-Atlantic region June 23-24, knocking down trees and affecting power for thousands.

Verizon has mobilized its employees and resources and has deployed repair technicians to the hardest hit areas across Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

We're also in close contact with power companies and other agencies to coordinate any needed restoration efforts. For safety reasons, power lines must be repaired before Verizon technicians can start their repair work.

Verizon customers can visit www.verizon.com/outage to report service-related issues, receive alerts, request repair and find helpful service-related FAQs. They also can contact Verizon at 1-800-VERIZON (800-837-4966). Customers should not assume that we know their service is affected.

Small business customers can visit www.verizon.com/bizoutage. Medium business and enterprise customers should contact their regular customer service centers or account teams, as needed. Enterprise customers can also access the Enterprise Center at https://enterprisecenter.verizon.com.

Since our network facilities rely on power to deliver services to customers, we have made sure that back-up batteries and generators at our key network facilities keep power flowing to deliver services to customers in case of prolonged commercial power outages.

We appreciate our customers' patience and understanding as we continue to restore service as quickly, and as safely as possible, in the aftermath of these storms.
