Verizon Communications Inc. acquired Senion, which provides indoor positioning technology for places including offices and malls.
Senion's workplace offerings have sought to "help companies improve productivity and reduce real-estate waste." During the pandemic it has emphasized safety-related features, such as tracking how many people are in an office and which rooms or zones are used most frequently.
In 2017, Senion said its indoor positioning system that helps shoppers navigate the Mall of America was believed to be the largest such installation in the U.S. to date.
A Verizon press release didn't mention the deal price. The company said the purchase "expands Verizon's location-based technology offerings, empowering companies to better and more safely manage their spaces."
