Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery was starting up a gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking unit after repair work.
"The unit is being started up after making repairs on the waste heat boiler," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. "Maintenance work was not able to be completed while the unit was on circulation."
It said the air startup related to the event began Saturday and would end Tuesday.
The 335,000-barrel-a-day refinery lies east of Houston.
