Vector Group Ltd. (NYSE: VGR) today announced that Jeffrey Podell, a long-serving member of the company’s board of directors, has passed away.
“We are deeply saddened by Jeff’s passing and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends,” said Howard M. Lorber, President and Chief Executive Office of Vector Group. “Jeff’s expertise was valued immensely by the board, and his contributions to the company will be felt for many years to come.”
Mr. Podell, a private investor, served as a director of the company since November 1993. He was a member of the New York State Bar Association from 1965 until March 2010.
Vector Group is a holding company that indirectly owns Liggett Group LLC and Vector Tobacco Inc. and directly owns New Valley LLC, which owns a controlling interest in Douglas Elliman Realty, LLC.
