Counting Crows Wrap 2003 With Best-Of Set, 'Films About Ghosts,' Which Features
Two New Tracks
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Coming off one of the summer's
most successful tours, co-headlining with John Mayer and playing to over 600,000
people in 38 cities, Counting Crows is set to release "Films About Ghosts,"
their first-ever "Best Of" collection. The Geffen Records album features songs
from every phase of Counting Crow's ten-year recording career. Also included,
two new tracks, "She Don't Want Nobody Near" and a sensational cover of the
Grateful Dead classic "Friend of the Devil." Both were produced by Brendan
O'Brien (Limp Bizkit, Pearl Jam, Korn, and Bruce Springsteen's recent hit album,
"The Rising"). "Films About Ghosts" arrives in store November 25th, while the
single "She Don't Want Nobody Near" impacted radio last week, becoming the # 1
most added song at AAA and # 3 most added at Hot Adult Contemporary.
Over the last two years, Counting Crows have toured the world, breaking new
markets and attendance records alike. "Hard Candy," their most recent studio
album, has sold over 1.3 million worldwide. The band's cover of Joni Mitchell's
"Big Yellow Taxi" was a Top 10 hit earlier this year. Counting Crows debuted in
1993 with "August and Everything." Subsequent albums include "Recovering the
Satellites" (1996); "Across A Wire: Live in NY" (1998); and "This Desert Life"
(1999). Altogether, Counting Crows has sold more than 18 million albums
worldwide.
This past weekend (10/25-26), Counting Crows played both shows at the Bridge
School Benefit Concert at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. The
band joined Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Willie Nelson, Pearl Jam, Incubus,
Wilco, Dashboard Confessional, and others for this memorable annual event.
