Each coach will receive $5,000 for their school and will be recognized at the Under Armour All-America High School Football Game on Jan. 1

Today U.S. Cellular announced the two winning coaches of the company’s Most Valuable Coach program, selected by fans out of hundreds of nominated coaches around the country. Allan Trimble of Jenks High School in Jenks, Okla., and Doug Smith of Appomattox County High School in Appomattox, Va., will each receive $5,000 for their school and a trip to Orlando, Fla., where each will be recognized live on the field during the nationally-televised Under Armour All-America High School Football Game, Jan. 1 on ESPN at 1:00 p.m. EST.

“We congratulate Coach Trimble and Coach Smith on their deserving title of Most Valuable Coach. There is no doubt that these two coaches have had an incredible impact on their schools and youth and will continue to be a leader in their local communities,” said Grant Leech, vice president of brand management at U.S. Cellular. “There were many worthy coaches nominated for this program, and we are fortunate to have so many people dedicated to positively influencing and teaching our country’s youth.”

U.S. Cellular’s Most Valuable Coach program began on Sept. 9 and gave people the opportunity to honor a high school football head coach who has made a positive impact on an individual, school or community.

Allan Trimble of Jenks High School serves as a coach, mentor and leader in his community, encouraging his team to give back. From packing nearly 40,000 meals for mission teams all over the world to visiting local hospitals, Trimble leads by example.

Doug Smith of Appomattox County High School is an integral part of his community, leading his team with the mantra of “Power of One”. With this in mind, Smith’s team and the local community came together as one to recover from a tornado that destroyed several homes and properties. Smith is a firm believer of teaching life lessons that can be applied off the field, through football.

U.S. Cellular hosted local celebratory events to honor each Final 15 coach and created short videos detailing each coach’s story, which can be viewed at www.TheMostValuableCoach.com. The Most Valuable Coach program served as an extension of U.S. Cellular’s commitment to building a connection with communities that extends beyond its business by supporting the neighborhoods where the company’s associates and customers live and work.
