-- Earlier Wednesday, Thermo Fisher Scientific reported a third-quarter profit of $760 million, or $1.88 a share, compared with $709 million, or $1.75 a share, a year ago. The company reported adjusted earnings of $2.94 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting earnings of $2.00 a share, or $2.87 a share on an adjusted basis

-- The company raised the low end of its revenue guidance for its 2019 fiscal year to between $25.34 billion and $25.50 billion from $25.30 billion to $25.50 billion. The company also increased its adjusted earnings outlook to $12.28 to $12.34 a share, compared with its previous guidance of $12.16 to $12.26 a share

-- Up 1.99% month-to-date; on pace for best month since Aug. 2019, when it rose 3.38%

-- Up 32.74% year-to-date; on pace for best year since 2017, when it rose 34.57%
