Tenet Announces the Promotion of Saum Sutaria to President and COO

Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) today announced that Chief Operating Officer Saum Sutaria, M.D., has been promoted to President and COO of Tenet, effective immediately. As President and COO, Sutaria will continue to be responsible for the company’s Hospital Operations segment, which includes acute care hospitals, hospital-affiliated outpatient centers and employed physicians. Additionally, he will assume direct responsibility for United Surgical Partners International and Conifer Health Solutions. Sutaria will continue reporting to Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ron Rittenmeyer.

Prior to joining Tenet as COO in January 2019, Sutaria worked for McKinsey & Company for 18 years. At McKinsey, he was a leader in the healthcare and private equity practices, serving clients on strategic, operational and financial issues. He received an M.D. from the University of California, San Diego, and completed post graduate training at the University of California at San Francisco, where he previously held an associate clinical faculty position. He received a BS in molecular and cellular biology and a BA in economics, both from the University of California, Berkeley.
