Sasol Ltd. (SOL.JO) said Tuesday that an explosion and subsequent fire occurred at the Low-Density Polyethylene Unit of its Lake Charles Chemicals Project, Louisiana, on Monday.
The South African energy and chemical group said the unit has been shut down and it has started an investigation into the cause of the incident, as well as the extent of damage and impact on the operational schedule. The unit wasn't yet in operation.
Sasol added that all other units and downstreams were unaffected by the incident, and that there were no casualties.
