Distribution of $0.10000 per Share for June, July and August 2004 


NEW YORK, May 19  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Salomon Brothers Capital and Income
Fund Inc., which is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol
"SCD," announced today a distribution of $0.10000 per common share for the
months of June, July and August 2004. The distribution schedule appears below:

Commencing with its initial distribution, the Fund intends to make regular
monthly distributions to shareholders at a fixed rate per common share based on
the projected performance of the Fund, which rate may be adjusted from time to
time. The goal of this managed distribution policy is to provide investors with
a stable monthly distribution out of current income and net short-term capital
gains to the extent they exceed net long-term capital losses, supplemented by
realized net long-term capital gains and, to the extent it becomes necessary,
return of capital. Monthly distributions based on such a level-rate policy may
require the Fund to make multiple distributions of long- term capital gains
during a single fiscal year. Some distributions may need to be re-designated at
year-end on Federal Form 1099.
