Salomon Brothers Capital and Income Fund Inc. Declares Initial
Distribution of $0.10 per Share for May 2004
NEW YORK, April 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Salomon Brothers Capital and
Income Fund Inc., which is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the
symbol "SCD," announced today a distribution of $0.10 per common share for the
month of May 2004. Based on the Fund's offering price of $20 per share, this
equates to an annualized yield of 6.00%. This distribution is composed of
income. The dividend distribution schedule appears below:
Ex-Dividend Record Payable
5/14/2004 5/18/2004 5/28/2004
Commencing with this initial distribution, the Fund intends to make regular
monthly distributions to shareholders at a fixed rate per common share based on
the projected performance of the Fund, which rate may be adjusted from time to
time. The goal of this managed distribution policy is to provide investors with
a stable monthly distribution out of current income and net short-term capital
gains to the extent they exceed net long-term capital losses, supplemented by
realized net long-term capital gains and, to the extent it becomes necessary,
return of capital. Monthly distributions based on such a level-rate policy may
require the Fund to make multiple distributions of long-term capital gains
during a single fiscal year. Some distributions may need to be re-designated at
year-end on Federal Form 1099.
Salomon Brothers Capital and Income Fund Inc., a non-diversified closed-end
investment management company, is managed by Salomon Brothers Asset Management
Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Citigroup Inc.
