LONDON--A leak on Royal Dutch Shell PLC's main pipeline to Nigeria LNG has disrupted supply to the liquefied natural gas exporter, Shell said Wednesday.
The Anglo-Dutch oil company's Nigerian unit declared force majeure on deliveries to Nigeria LNG on Monday after a leak on the Eastern Gas Gathering System pipeline. Force majeure is a legal step that protects a company from liability for breaking contractual obligations for reasons beyond its control.
The pipeline remains shut while Shell conducts repairs and investigates the cause of the leak, but it is continuing to supply Nigeria LNG through other pipelines, the company said. Shell declined to comment on how LNG exports might be affected.
