ALLENTOWN, Pa., Nov. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- PPL has received a perfect score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality.

PPL earned the designation as a 2018 Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality for its continued commitment to workplace equality, with respect to tangible policies, benefits and practices. These results also reflect the company's focus on supplier diversity and charitable contributions that benefit the LGBT community.

"PPL is committed to creating an environment where all employees feel included and valued — regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity or whom you love," said William H. Spence, chairman, president and Chief Executive Officer. "We remain committed to continuing our long-standing support of the LGBT community through active participation in community organizations and equal benefits for employees."

For the 2018 report, CEI rated major U.S. businesses, evaluating their LGBT-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health-care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.

"Diversity is more than tolerance, it is about recognizing, valuing and taking advantage of unique contributions that each person brings to the workplace," said Donna Cruciani, founder and president of FUSE, the company's business resource group dedicated to promoting workplace equality and supporting the LGBT community. "I am proud to be part of a company that so strongly supports LGBT employees, their families and our community."
