pleased to announce that Richard Shannon has joined the firm as a senior
research analyst covering semiconductors, specifically communications and
memory-oriented companies.  The addition of these subsectors represents an
expansion of Piper Jaffray's semiconductor research, which is currently covered
by Piper Jaffray enterprise computing and storage and semiconductors analyst
Ashok Kumar and analog/mixed signal semiconductors analyst Tore Svanberg.  The

Shannon, who is based in the firm's San Francisco office, joins the firm from
UBS where he was an equity research analyst covering semiconductors. Prior to
UBS, he was an analyst at Epoch Partners in San Francisco and at John G. Kinnard
& Co. in Minneapolis.

Shannon has a master's of business administration degree from the Carlson School
of Management at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and a bachelor of
science degree in computer and electrical engineering from Purdue University in
West Lafayette, Ind. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
