Dreyfus Strategic Municipals, Inc. Declares Dividend

On January 24, 2006, the Board of Directors of Dreyfus
Strategic Municipals, Inc. (NYSE: LEO) declared from net investment
income a monthly cash dividend of $0.042 per share of common stock,
payable on February 24, 2006 to shareholders of record at the close of
business on February 9, 2006. The ex-dividend date is February 7,
2006. The previous dividend declared in December was $0.046 per share
of common stock. The level of dividend reduction principally is due to
lower interest rates being realized on securities purchased with the
income and principal proceeds from portfolio securities that have
matured, been called or been sold and increased borrowing costs on the
Fund's auction preferred stock.
