LONDON--HSBC Holdings PLC (HBC) has appointed Dermot Murphy and Mahmoud Atalla as managing directors in the new credit solutions group within the global credit division, it said Monday.
Mr. Murphy and Mr. Atalla will focus on the trading of special credit situations in the bond and loan markets, managing risk opportunities from European financials deleveraging, corporate restructuring and bespoke stressed opportunities across Europe.
Mr. Murphy joins HSBC from UBS AG (UBS), where he was co-head of sub-investment grade trading while Mr. Atalla was recently head of HSBC UK Principal Investments having previously worked at private equity firm Montagu Private Equity.
Both new managing directors will be based in London reporting to Asif Godall, head of European credit trading.
