Horace Mann Provides Scholarships for Educators to Take College Courses
SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Horace Mann Scholarship
Program for Educators provides funds to help public and private school teachers
continue their education. The Horace Mann Educators Corporation's 2004 program
will offer 36 scholarships totaling $30,000. The 36 awards include: one
four-year $5,000 award (payable over four years), fifteen two-year $1,000 awards
(payable over two years), and 20 one-time $500 awards. Horace Mann will pay the
scholarships directly to the college or university of each recipient's choice
for tuition, fees and other educational expenses. To be eligible, an applicant
must be an educator employed by a U.S. public or private school district or U.S.
public or private college/university and currently enrolled or planning to enter
a two or four- year accredited college or university. The applicant must have a
minimum of two years teaching experience.

The program deadline is May 15, 2004, and scholarship recipients will be
announced on or about July 1.
