Honda Motor is recalling nearly 1.2 million vehicles in the U.S. over an issue affecting their rearview cameras, according to the top federal auto-safety regulator.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday that three models of Honda vehicles are being recalled due to an improperly designed and manufactured communication coaxial cable that can cause a reversing vehicle's rearview camera to fail.
The estimated percentage of recalled vehicles that have the defect is 50%, according to the safety recall report.
The recall affects the 2018 to 2023 versions of the Honda Odyssey, 2019 to 2022 models of the Honda Pilot and the 2019 to 2023 editions of the Honda Passport.
As of June 8, Honda has already received more than a quarter of a million warranty claims related to the issue. No injuries or deaths related to the issue have been reported.
Honda's American depositary receipts fell 2.5% to $30.19 in early trading.
