General Motors Co. on Thursday said it was accepting applications for workers at the Ultium Cells LLC battery cell manufacturing facility in Lordstown, Ohio.
The facility, which will be run through a joint venture with LG Chem, is looking to hire over 1,100 workers, the auto maker said.
GM also said the plant will "be about the size of 30 football fields" and "have annual capacity of more than 30 gigawatt hours and room for expansion." The plant will produce battery cells for the GMC HUMMER EV, Cadillac LYRIQ, Cruise Origin shared self-driving vehicle and other vehicles.
"This facility will lead us into a new era of manufacturing and sustainability as we push toward a zero-emissions future," said Thomas Gallagher, plant director, Ultium Cells LLC.
