      Great American Financial Resources, Inc. (NYSE:GFR) announced that it 
      has set September 28, 2007 as the date for the Special Meeting of 
      Stockholders to vote upon the proposal by American Financial Group, Inc. 
      to acquire all shares of the Company’s common 
      stock it does not already own for a price of $24.50 per share. 
      Stockholders of record as of the close of business on August 24, 2007 
      will be entitled to vote at the meeting. The Company expects to mail 
      proxy materials on or before August 30, 2007.
