Eaton Vance Tax-Managed Global Diversified Equity Income Fund Report of Earnings

BOSTON, Oct. 2  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Eaton Vance Tax-Managed Global Diversified Equity Income Fund (NYSE:EXG), a diversified closed-end investment company, today announced the earnings of the Fund for the three months ended July 31, 2009 and the nine months ended July 31, 2009.  The Fund's fiscal year ends on October 31, 2009.

For the three months ended July 31, 2009, the Fund had net investment income of $27,177,782 ($0.090 per common share). For the nine months ended July 31, 2009, the Fund had net investment income of $67,785,032 ($0.224 per common share).  In comparison, for the three months ended July 31, 2008, the Fund had net investment income of $42,387,573 ($0.141 per common share).  For the nine months ended July 31, 2008, the Fund had net investment income of $102,044,578 ($0.338 per common share).

Net realized and unrealized gains for the three months ended July 31, 2009 were $487,098,226 ($1.610 per common share) and net realized and unrealized gains for the nine months ended July 31, 2009 were $285,877,494 ($0.946 per common share). In comparison, net realized and unrealized losses for the three months ended July 31, 2008 were $356,267,548 ($1.173 per common share) and net realized and unrealized losses for the nine months ended July 31, 2008 were $601,515,408 ($1.990 per common share).

On July 31, 2009, net assets of the Fund were $3,652,283,748.  The net asset value per common share on July 31, 2009 was $12.08 based on 302,284,868 common shares outstanding.  In comparison, on July 31, 2008, net assets of the Fund were $4,991,169,637.  The net asset value per common share on July 31, 2008 was $16.51 based on 302,284,868 common shares outstanding.
