Emerson Electric Co. (EMR) said it is conducting a comprehensive review of its operational, capital allocation and portfolio initiatives.
Technology and engineering company Emerson's said its board will lead the evaluation, which will be supported by a consulting firm and independent legal and financial advisers.
"While we remain positive on Emerson's end markets, we anticipate a challenging geopolitical and economic landscape over the next couple of years. We are focused on ensuring we are well positioned to successfully drive outperformance and shareholder value," said Chief Executive David N. Farr.
The company also backed its 2019 earnings per share guidance of $3.60 to $3.70.
