James T. Morris Joins Edison International and Southern California Edison Boards of Directors

Edison International (NYSE:EIX) and Southern California Edison today announced that James T. Morris has been elected to the board of directors of each company, effective today.

Morris, 56, is the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Pacific Life Insurance Company, and its parent companies Pacific Mutual Holding Company and Pacific LifeCorp. He has served as president and chief executive officer since 2007 and chairman since 2008.

Morris has worked in a variety of management positions since joining Pacific Life in 1982, including chief operating officer, executive vice president and chief insurance officer. He has headed the life insurance division and the annuities and mutual funds division, as well as serving as senior vice president of individual insurance. Morris began his career in the insurance industry as an actuarial student with Transamerica Occidental prior to joining Pacific Life.

Morris is a member of the board of directors of the American Council of Life Insurers, the nation’s principal life insurance company trade association, where he served as chairman from 2012 to 2013. He is a past chairperson of the Junior Achievement of Orange County and is a member of the board of visitors of the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Morris earned a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
