DaVita HealthCare Partners Donates $1.5 Million During Annual Support of Charities

DENVER, Dec. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. (NYSE: DVA), a leading provider of kidney care and health care services, today announced that its clinical teammates donated more than $1.5 million to charities across the United States through the "DaVita Way of Giving."

For the fourth consecutive year, DaVita HealthCare Partners teammates participated in the DaVita® Way of Giving, a locally focused charitable giving initiative that helps 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations across the country grow and thrive.

Clinical teammates from DaVita Kidney Care and HealthCare Partners were encouraged to democratically choose charities in their communities to receive contributions. This is the first time HealthCare Partners teammates participated in the initiative.

Corporate leaders encouraged clinical teammates to choose charities that are locally based and make a positive impact for residents. Charities included relief organizations, animal shelters, food banks, children's organizations, crisis centers, health clinics and many more.

In addition to providing grants, clinical teammates are encouraged to volunteer their time through community service projects – known internally as Village Service Days – to develop or foster relationships with nonprofits. Since 2006, DaVita HealthCare Partners teammates and their family and friends have participated in more than 1,300 Village Service Days, volunteering nearly 76,000 hours of service.
