A person familiar with operations at BP's (BP, BP.LN) Texas City, Texas, refinery on April 28 said the refinery awaits final preparations for reliable power supply by TNMP at its Texas City, Texas, before restarting. The entire plant was taken off line due to power outages on April 25/26; all units were placed in circulation mode.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said restart procedures got under way on April 28 at the East Plant of its Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery after a transformer failure caused a power outage loss.
Valero Energy Corp. also said the restart of its Texas City, Texas, refinery was making progress following Apr 25/26 power outages forced the shutdown of the entire refinery. Its return to normal operating rates hinges on reliable power supply, the company said the day before.
Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) on April 27 said operations at its Texas City, Texas, refinery had returned to normal following outages at specific units as a result of overnight power outages on April 25/26.
Marathon Oil, also on April 27, said operations at its Canton, Ohio, refinery were returning to normal following planned turnaround maintenance underway at unspecified units since early March.
ConocoPhillips (COP) said operations at its Sweeny, Texas, refinery had returned to normal on April 26 after temporary power interruptions earlier in the day.
Operations at Suncor Energy's (SU) refinery in Commerce City, Colorado, had returned to normal following planned maintenance that began on March 19, the company said on April 26.
Holly Corp. (HOC) said on April 25 that crude oil throughput at its 125,000-b/d Tulsa, Oklahoma, refinery was reduced by 50% following a mechanical failure that was discovered on April 22.
ConocoPhillips said on April 25 that planned maintenance is under way at unspecified processing units at its Carson, Calif., refinery. Traders said the work is being performed at the plant's crude and coker units; filings to environmental regulators said flaring was planned between April 17 and 24.
Valero Energy said on April 25 that West Plant operations at its Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery returned to normal following a power outage on April 19.
Valero Energy said on April 25 that turnaround maintenance at an FCCU and alkylation unit at its St. Charles refinery in Norco, La., underway since early March, would be completed by mid-May.
Suncor Energy Inc. said April 19 it would begin planned maintenance at its Edmonton refinery starting April 22 that will last about four weeks. This work will take place on one of the refinery's crude units and associated processing units, and will include tie-in work for several capital projects, the company said.
